Since starting my position as a Marketing Coordinator with the Manhattanville College Office of Communications and Marketing, much of my role has been framed with the perspective of preparing for the launch of the institution’s new website. After many months of hard work, I am proud to share that Manhattanville’s updated site is now live and ready to view!
In the first few months of my position, I worked closely with other community members across campus to begin revising outdated copy and gather more relevant photographs. I also supervised the interns in our office to create student-generated content in a variety of areas, as well as review early design and copy for student-facing elements such as the virtual tour map. Many of my regular responsibilities crossed over with the early work on the website content development, so when my team received the all-clear from our web agency to begin migration in early January of this year, it was a natural fit for me to take an active role in bringing our new site to life.
For roughly two and a half months, I collaborated closely with the Creative Director to migrate content from our existing webpages to our new host system, OmniCMS, and design pages that fit our updated brand standards. I worked on over fifty pages during this time and contributed to the layout of nearly two dozen pages. Furthermore, reducing our URL count was a top priority as we launched a new site and I was able to directly contribute to the cut of over one hundred and seventy URLs.
Once my team progressed beyond the initial stages of migration, I became to take a lead role in the migration of our faculty and experts directories. Our previous faculty directory was out-of-date and missing a significant amount of information. I manually migrated information for over three hundred faculty and staff members and assisted in updating and adding necessary information to these pages. Additionally, I migrated the profiles for our existing faculty experts while expanding our database to new community members. This process coincided with the recent work I have done to expand Manhattanville’s public media presence.
One of the proudest contributions I made was the creation of the “Splash” video featured on the top of the homepage. My goal was to create a video that represented the culture of Manhattanville’s campus and the experiences that were significant to a large cross-section of students. I led a focus group session with a small group of current students to identify the elements that are quintessential to the Manhattanville student experience and developed a storyline that could portray these ideals through a short, continuous video. Since the video has been published, it has received strong feedback from large numbers of community members.
Post-launch, I will continue to support my team by leading web training sessions for our community members and assisting in making edits as we receive requests.
