2022 Quad Jam Logo

I was incredibly honored to be selected to design the logo for Quad Jam 2022 by the Center for Student Involvement at Manhattanville College!

Quad Jam is an annual spring event at Manhattanville College that welcomes students, parents, alumni, and community members to enjoy live performances, food trucks, activities, and more. The 2022 event will be the first for more than two thirds of the student population, and is recognized as the fortieth year the event is hosted (a definitive year round cannot be made due to missing historical records).

I wanted to make the logo fun, colorful, and distinct from previous art used to commemorate the occasion, but also easily readable and simple so it could be used on a broad scale of physical products that would be given away at the event and all of the digital promotional materials made by campus departments and student groups.

The main “Quad Jam” typography was loosely inspired by the lettering for the “Space Jam” logo to create a slight feeling of nostalgia. I also laid out the logo to be encased by a circle, so it could fit in a square frame and was not too long vertically or horizontally. In terms of color, the primary red color used was a lighter variation of the traditional Manhattanville red to match a more spring palette. The rounded text that frame the main type sticks to the brand standards with the typeface, but uses a rainbow gradient to bring back the “fun factor” in the color version.

There is also a flat color version of the logo to be used on select promotional items, including t-shirts, sunglasses, and water bottles. The full color version was used on tote bags in collaboration with a student club and temporary tattoos, as well as all print and digital promotional materials for the event.

When Quad Jam weekend arrived, I received tons of positive feedback from students, faculty, and staff, and was incredibly proud to see my art throughout the event!

April 2023 – Update: My original design will be reused for the 2023 Quad Jam event.
