During the Spring 2020 semester, I was a part of the pilot cohort of Social Media Interns with the Communications and Media department at Manhattanville College. As the Social Media Manager, I was responsible for overseeing the social media strategy, content development process, team meetings, and overall team relationship.
I worked with three fellow communications students – a Content Creator, a Community Manager, and a Data Analyst. The Content Creator and I worked collaboratively to develop graphic and video content for our Instagram page, the Community Manager helped to foster more audience interactions, and the Data Analyst reviewed the insights from our work to better inform our efforts.
During the three month internship, we were able to develop a consistent brand identity and guidelines for our content, implement three new campaigns that both highlighted student accomplishments and informed current & prospective students about department offerings, and help to better engage the “CAMFam” community at a time when the program’s traditional offerings were not available. By the completion of the internship, the CAM Instagram page saw a 5.5% increase in followers, a 268.5% increase in reach, and a 1805.6% increase in post interactions.
